Nvidia’s cloud gaming platform, GeForce Now, will cease its operations in Russia on October 1. Starting September 1, Nvidia partner GFN.ru will close registration for new users and discontinue the sale of GeForce Now subscriptions in the country.

GeForce Now is joining other cloud gaming platforms like Xbox Cloud Gaming and Boosteroid, which have ended streaming services in Russia over the last year.

GeForce Now has operated in Russia through partner company GFN.ru since its launch in 2019. GFN.ru announced in a blog post (spotted by Overclockers.ru) that due to “the current circumstances,” it “cannot provide the quality of service” that meets its standards or that its users “expect and deserve.”

Nvidia relies upon a network of partners to distribute its cloud gaming service worldwide, such as LG U+ and Softbank, which handle Asian territories, and Abya, which services South America.

On October 1, GFN.ru will shut down its servers, and subscribers with active subscriptions beyond October 1 will receive a refund. Aside from sanctions resulting from Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, Overclockers.ru attributes the shutdown to low streaming ad…

I like to imagine that one day, when I tune in to a Ubisoft quarterly financial call, CEO Yves Guillemot will come on and say in his French accent, “Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from Hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee! Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool! And since neither can be mine, let me then tow to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned whale!”

That hasn’t happened yet, but spiritually I think we’re way beyond the Ahab threshold at this point—because yes, that’s right, Skull and Bones, Ubisoft’s eternally-not-quite-ready game of high-seas piracy, has been delayed. Again.

I don’t even know if I can fairly call it a delay, since the last time we had an actual release date was September 2022, when Ubisoft pushed the launch from November 8, 2022 to March 9 of this year. Which obviously didn’t happen.

Since then, it was pushed to sometime “early” in Ubisoft’s 2023-24 fiscal year, and then not so early in the year, and now late in it. For the record, the fourth-quarter timeframe means Skull and Bones now …

Iron Lung has just had a major update that includes a ‘Markiplier mode’. This indie horror game grew in popularity after the YouTuber did a full playthrough last year that gained over 8 million views, and he enjoyed it so much that he is currently directing and starring in an Iron Lung film adaptation. The latest update adds a handful of cheats, ‘Markiplier mode’ being the silliest new addition. Once activated your vessel is plastered with multiple Markiplier meme faces from top to bottom.

To those unfamiliar with this indie horror, you are a convict tasked with exploring a blood ocean in a rickety submersible called the Iron Lung. All habitable planets and stars have vanished in what’s called the ‘Quiet Rapture’ and only baron moons, space stations, and asteroids remain. This ocean is found on one of those moons. The only way to see what surrounds your vessel is by taking a photo and seeing what appears on your screen. The game did recently gather some attention as comparisons between its premise and the Titan submersible situation were made on Twitter. The games developer David Szymanski posted a tweet showing increased sales during that time saying “it feels so wrong”.<…

I’ve never seen anyone look as good in a Vault suit as the actors in the Fallout show. The licensed Vault-Tec jumpsuits you can get from costume stores are spandex disasters, but even more expensive Vault suits aimed at cosplayers look a bit pajama-like. The show’s jumpsuits, however, are form-fitting without being superhero-tight, and don’t seem to limit movement whatsoever—they look comfy, but also cool, or at least as cool as a blue and yellow jumpsuit that designates you as a sheltered nerd can look.

Well, there’s a reason. Vault 33’s main sartorial advantage was of course having a team of expert costumers on hand to custom make their outfits, but those retro sci-fi tailors also had a secret weapon: hard-to-get Italian fabric.

In the games, Vault suits do sometimes cling to muscles, but Fallout show costume designer Amy Westcott, whose other credits include Black Swan, Nightcrawler, and The Wrestler, wanted to avoid “shiny, spandex, sort of superheroes stuff.”

“We were dealing with real people with real bodies,” Westcott said in a recent interview with PC Gamer. “So it was a lot about what could look universally flattering in a way that wasn’t skin ti…

If you’ve had a hankering for a chaotic open-world survival game full of players that will gun you down on sight (or just want to see how long you’ll survive in a zombie apocalypse), then Steam’s Pioneer Survival Pack sale has you covered.

From March 7 to March 14, you can buy Rust and DayZ at 40% off their combined value at $50.98/ £41.38. Rust has been around since 2013, with a five-year-early access period, but it still has a dedicated community.

“DayZ was one of the initial inspirations behind Rust, way back in early 2013, so it’s exciting to finally be releasing a bundle featuring both games that we’re so proud of,” Alistair McFarlane, a producer at Facepunch Studios, said in a press release.

If you’ve been trying to convince a few friends to join the fight and help you survive in these unforgiving lobbies or be around to avenge you when a random player inevitably guns you down and steals all your stuff, then this bundle’s a perfect way to push that sales pitch over the line.

Rust has previously been cheaper (its lowest price sitting at $8.74/ £6.94), but the last discount was only 33% off in December, …
